Dean Fager became pastor of First United Methodist Church on June 16, 2001. He is a native of Redkey, Indiana, where he graduated from high school. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Evansville, a Master of Theology degree from Boston University School of Theology, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University.

He began ministry in Decatur, Indiana, in 1972, and has served United Methodist churches in Albany, Osceola, Fort Wayne, and Peru. He also served for three years on the North Indiana Conference staff as a consultant to local churches across Indiana.

Dean is married to the former Jan Caskey. They are parents to six children (Eric Caskey, Mike Caskey, Ryan Fager, Nick Caskey, Benjamin Fager, Sarah Fager), four still at home. Jan is a stay-at-home mom and a Longaberger associate
(selling baskets, wrought iron, pottery, fabrics, etc.); she directs the handbell program at First United Methodist Church that currently consists of Praises in Bronze (the handbell choir) and a handbell quartet.
